anticipation

I want to blog about Italy, but I haven't got the pics to be posted together with the entries sorted out yet...

at the same time I'm eagerly waiting for the next version update in FFXI to come.. about 2 hours till that happens.
Since I haven't been blogging about FFXI, now might be a good time to continue from where I left off. Although I've been playing FFXI far less than before, there's still a part of it that gets to the fanboy in me.. a routine found in this game that has always been something of an event to most of its players, which is the version update...
This time, the update is bigger and better than ever, at least based on teaser notes.. so the mounting hype is beginning to overwhelm everyone...

It feels, almost like.. what (a stereotypical) Christmas Eve for a kid should be..
Here's an analogy I picked up from BG:

This update promises so many things. Its huge, but there'll always be questions if it will deliver.
Anticipation of the Christmas morning to come...

The official update notes are revealed and has gotten everyone excited because of its numerous surprises.
You can see the presents under the tree that Santa left, but can't touch them yet...

Then comes the dat mining. Before the servers come up, someone finds awesome stats on a new piece of eq or a new eq set.
You're now shaking the presents, trying to figure out what they are - some you can tell, some you can't...

The servers come up! People start testing new job abilities and changes, and find that its either really cool or maybe not so hot.
You finally get to open your presents! While doing so, you play mostly with the more glorious presents. Some of these last, some turn out to be kind of lame and are never touched again...

Then... the new missions, the new crafts, items.. and everything else...
The new wears off of the "bigger" stuff, and you get around to playing with the rest of your gifts, which for the most part turn out to be cooler than you expected, but aren't really worth huge celebration...

Then... of course, come the glitches...
Your first present breaks!

but I love updates. I'm such a geek.
